The yarn is nice. The pattern, not so much.

I started the Alpaca Hug sweater as a fairly new knitter, having done only two sweaters before, both pieced raglan. I got frustrated and gave up for a year or two, thinking perhaps I didn’t know enough how to do the pattern. Meanwhile, I learned top down and stranded colorwork. Then I came back to this. Well, it turns out it wasn’t me. And that makes me feel a bit annoyed. First, there’s the basic errors like: if you cast on the 42 stitches called for on the sleeve ribbing and do 2 knit/2 purl, you will start and end both on a knit. Which will give you four rows of knit at the seam, and look awkward. Then there’s the pattern saying to “increase on rows 2, 6, 10 (etc), which were purl rows. A bit odd, but fine. But increase by what method? It matters! Then there’s the problem pointed out by others that there isn’t enough yarn. The website says that the pattern is a bit harder than beginner, but can be done by a beginner if you follow it closely. I now realize that it’s poorly written and really should not be attempted unless you have enough skills to spot these types of problems and compensate. It’s beautiful yarn. With the skills I have now, it’s going to be a beautiful sweater. But you need someone to work on the pattern, particularly if you’re going to market it to beginners.

Oversize Sweater

Love this yarn. The pattern is fairly easy to follow and I’m looking forward to finishing it. The kit comes with 5 skeins but I’ve run out of yarn a few rows short of the second sleeve. I just ordered another skein today & I hope the colors match.

Amazing

I am not a knitter(I normally crochet) but I wanted to give this a shot. It’s super easy to follow and the yarn is a dream to work with I can’t wait to finish up the sweater and wear it next fall

Still knitting but love the feel of the yarn and the COLORS!

This yarn is everything it claims to be. Easy to knit, stitches form easily on the needle without splitting and feel so good in your hands, you don’t want to put it down. The drape is elegant and easy. The instructions are clear and well-written. I am looking forward to getting this done so that I can wear it! Beautiful yarn!

Pattern is Inaccurate

The yarn is gorgeous but something seems off with the pattern. Following the pattern exactly including the gauge and I don’t think There is enough yarn and it’s much larger than in the diagram. 98 stitches at a gauge off 13sts/4” makes the front 30”. You give the bust size as 51”. I’ve finished one skein out of 5 and I’m not even to the under arm yet. Can you help. I’m a very experienced knitter so I’ll probably unravel and use a different pattern.

Great yarn

Live working with this beautiful yarn. I decided the pattern was just too much stockinette stitch, so I worked the color by pulling the little lavendar "pools" of color-- it looks terrific! Also so soft and yummy.

Soft addicting yarn!

The yarn is very soft while still feeling wooly. It is so fun to knit with it and watch the little pops of color appear.

Oh so soft!!!

This was such a fun sweater to make!!! I altered the collar a bit by knitting 25 rows and then folding it over. I’m going to order the white and lavender yarn and make the sweater for my daughter in law, or maybe another for me!!! :)
